The Sleepy Little Town

He woke up to the view of a glorious morning, sun shining bright and cheerful, with no clouds around to spoil its mood. It was going to be a spectacular day, he just knew it in his bones.

But as soon as he got down from the bed, he knew something was wrong. He tottered like he had done on the night he’d gobbled down four buckets of beer on a bet. Luckily, he managed to take the support of the bed post, or else he would surely have fallen down. As it is, just this much exertion made him feel as if he’d run 20 miles.

He somehow walked up to the window and looked outside.

Now he was sure that something was drastically wrong. The town looked as if no one had lived there for years.

And it was then that he saw the sign on the street below, and understood…absolutely nothing.

It said, “UNESCO World Heritage Site. Please do not make any loud noises, you might wake Rip Van Winkle up.”
