Idyllic.
If there was one word that could be used to describe this island, it was this. Crystal-clear azure waters for as far as the eye could see, miles upon miles of powdery sand beaches, and not a soul to disturb the peace and quiet of this stunning setting. In short, idyllic!
The fruits were plump and luscious, the air so pure that it actually gave you a high, the sun didn’t have to contend with the ugly haze that permeated through a city’s atmosphere, everything was just perfect.
Perfect…like I had been….before they had attacked me, and left me bruised, battered, and broken….but only in the body, for try as they might, they could never break my spirit. They saw me going down in the ocean waters, and thought that they were done with me for good.
Big mistake.
A mistake for which they would pay heavily….as soon as I could find a away to get off this island. Maybe today was that day.
I gently waded into the water, and started swimming, slowly at first, and then faster and faster…till I turned around and realized that I could hardly see the beach anymore. I gave an exultant shout, and started swimming even harder. Today was definitely the day.
But the Gods seemed to have heard my thoughts.
The tide turned, and now, mountains of waves were pushing against me, forcing me to exert harder and harder, till I realized that I had not moved a single inch for what seemed like ages. And then, I started floating backwards, towards the beach again. I panicked, and redoubled my efforts, but my body had still not recovered enough, and I finally gave up.
The waves deposited me back onto the beach, exhausted, spent, broken….but only in the body, for try as they might, they could never break my spirit.
Today’s effort was not productive, but tomorrow is another day.
I will try to escape again. Maybe tomorrow will be MY day, the day I finally get off this island, and reach the mainland again.
And then, those puny humans will face the true wrath of Godzilla!
