The Nocturnal Marauder

PHOTO PROMPT © Ronda Del Boccio

I lay huddled amongst the bushes, careful not to make the slightest of sounds. Suddenly, a blazing light pierced the darkness.

I froze even further, if that was possible. I could not afford to get caught, not with the loot in my hands.

As he took his next step, I jumped out.

Startled, he fired his gun, and the bullet whizzed past my right ear.

But I was off like lightening, safe with my load of carrots, his plaintive cry still ringing in my ears, “Come back, you wascally wabbit!”

90 words.

Written as a part of Friday Fictioneers, hosted by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields (more details HERE). The challenge is to write a story in 100 words or less, based on the weekly photo prompt. To read many more stories based on this week’s prompt, visit HERE.

Note: Struggled a lot on this prompt, not very happy with the final result, but don’t want to break discipline. Trying to write my blog story  after a marathon script-writing session was not a great idea in hindsight.

Also, for those unfamiliar with the context of this story, here’s a quick link:
