The Final Goodbye

They stood at the edge of the cliff, looking down at a bed of jagged rocks.

“Are you sure about this? ” he asked tentatively.

“No,” she replied in a soft voice, “but it is our only option.”

“Your people are going to miss you,” he said sadly.

She just held his hand silently. She knew he didn’t have any people, they’d all died long ago.

“I know,” she sighed, “but they didn’t leave me with much of a choice.”

They kissed then, long and hard, as if they were kissing for the first time…as if they were kissing for the last time.

They forced themselves away from each other somehow, and she said, “Let’s do it now.”

“OK  at the count of three then,” he replied.

They started counting together.

“1…2…and 3.”

As soon as they said 3, they jumped…..

….high into the air, flying away from Themiscyra forever, the paradise island which would not allow Diana, the Wonder Woman, to be with the man she loved, even though he was the Man of Steel.

At least they will be together in death.

  3. So sad. Unless Superman changes his mind and flies them somewhere far away.
