The Slave

The scorching desert sun was sucking the life out of me, and the heavy chains were dragging me down.

I trudged stolidly on the hot sand, stumbling, almost falling again and again.

But I had to survive this. Giving up was not an option.

I HAD to deliver my prisoner to the king.

Written as a response to  Kat’s twittering tale # 91 , hosted by Kat Myrman. The objective is to write a story inspired by the weekly photo prompt, in 280 characters or less.

Note: I find this particular challenge the most difficult, for I always say in 100 words what I can otherwise say in 10. But this time, I wrote the story in one go, no backtracking, no replacing words, one shot!

Wow…there was a twist at the end. I thought the subject of the story was in chains. In fact they were dragging a prisoner in chains. Well done! I like surprises! 😊

  2. I like endings with a twist. Good job Anurag 👍
