Trekking Travails – #AtoZChallenge #BlogchatterA2Z

“I’ll go first,” Tracy said, “but don’t peep, OK?”

I kept looking the other way as she stripped, and jumped into the lake in the forest.

But I had been dreaming of this moment for so long, that I just couldn’t resist taking a peek.

My Gawd! The glistening curvaceous body….the lustrous hair….the giant crocodile…

WHAT!

I almost panicked, but years of training and instinct immediately took over.

I hunted around desperately in my bag, time was of the essence here. This photo needed to be perfect if I had to have any shot at a Pulitzer.

99 words.

Written in response to the Carrot Ranch Literary Community Flash Fiction Challenge, hosted by Charli Mills, who is recovering from a visit to the dentist currently ๐Ÿ™‚

Charliโ€™sย promptย this week, in her own words, was:

April 19, 2018, prompt:ย In 99 words (no more, no less) write a story about forest bathing. You can use the Japanese term,ย Shinrin Yoku, or you can make up your own ideas about the phrase. Go where the prompt leads.

This is also my entry for the #AtoZChallenge and #BlogchatterA2Z. Today’s letter was T, which, in my story, stands for Timing, as well as Trekking.

    Wonderful tale!!!! So entertaining

  9. LucciaGray says:

What a photo ๐Ÿ˜ณ ? Great ending, unfortunately we’ve seen people taking pics when they should be helping in disasters…

  10. Perfect ending. I loved the way you built the terror by mentioning mundane items and just threw a crocodile in at the end. You left me laughing.

  11. Charli Mills says:

I hope that shot went viral, lol!

  12. Jules says:

Hmmm… I think he knew the croc was there from the beginning. Why else would he have the camera in the first place – thinking of fame? Anything for the right prize. Never mind “The Price is Right” (TV game show…) How about “The Prize is Right!” – There is still a chance she out smarted the croc? Probably not, but I’d like to think she got out and punched the photographer in his family jewels.
