Mynah Bhoolungi – Or The Protectors of the Skies

It was a perfect, sunny day on the beach, and Surin was out on her daily morning inspection with her assistant Rawai when she saw a rather disturbing sight.
Her first instinct was to take Rawai to task for it, but she decided to take a better look, and so, flew up and perched herself on the top of a beach umbrella, eyes gazing keenly into the distance.
She still wasn’t sure, so she caught a lamp in her beak, and flew towards the dark matter to investigate it more closely.
Aah yes, I was right, there is definitely an anomaly there, Surin muttered to herself. Mom was right, she thought, you have to die yourself to attain heaven, can’t depend on the staff for anything important.
And so, she sucked in some air, then some more, and finally, even more, till there was not a micron of space left in her lungs, and then….she blew it all out in one go!
The intensity of her exhaling caused dolphins to be unceremoniously ejected out of the water (only to fall back in again, equally unceremoniously) and trees to get uprooted, and replanted kilometers away. But most importantly, it blew away the rogue puff of dark cloud that had dared to venture into her territory today.
Having taught him a lesson he would never forget, Surin dusted her feathers and allowed a slight smile of satisfaction to encroach upon her usually stern features as she surveyed the result of her handiwork.
NOW, it was a perfect sunny day on the beach.
