The Stalker

I was being stalked, there was no two ways about it, and I hated it from the core of my heart. The creature had climbed a steep mountain to profess its love for me by drawing a heart when I wasn’t looking.

To think that it had been this close to me, and I hadn’t even realized it. It made my skin crawl. And now, on my way back to town, I imagined it to be hiding behind every closed door, looking at me intently.

Or maybe it is hidden behind those innocent-looking shrubs, waiting for just the right moment to pounce.

The terror of the unknown was killing me. It seemed to be dogging my footsteps passionately, and howsoever much I may try, IT JUST DIDN’T GIVE UP.

But on the steep road downhill to the town, I suddenly accelerated and before it could realize what was happening, I had disappeared in a blur. I didn’t have the time to look behind and check, but I am sure it would still be ringing its hands, while I am here, at my workplace, safe and sound.

Suddenly, a voice called out something in an alien language, and I realized that all my efforts had been in vain. Just when I had felt myself to be safe, I had been discovered by this human stalker!
